Ordinary Saints

A Santeria-practicing cab driver in Mexico City collides with one of the world’s most powerful organizations—the Catholic Church

OVERVIEW

Ordinary Saints tells the story of what happens when Adriana Blanquet, a tattooed, Santeria-practicing cab driver in Mexico City, collides with one of the world’s most powerful organizations—the Catholic Church. When an accident tragically takes the life of her son Lalo just as she makes an unexpected recovery from COVID, a movement develops online to propel the boy’s canonization as the patron saint of the global pandemic. Adriana isn’t sure if she wants her son to be a saint, but his death inspires a new community of women to rally around Adriana—invoking Lalo’s spirit to address the inequities in their midst.
